PLATESETTER SETUPS AND USAGE PICTORIAL
ON THE BIG GREEN EGG LARGE (AND MAYBE OTHERS)
From time to time someone will ask about how to correctly use the Big Green Egg Platesetter. We get calls and we see posts on the Egghead forum so we did this pictorial showing some of the more popular setups.

This is probably the most used setup - Platesetter Legs-up .

#2 setup is Platesetter legs-down

The often recommended Pizza baking setup. Platesetter legs-down, 3 little ceramic feet and pizza / baking stone on top.

I use this setup for when we use an aluminum or other drip pan and a large turkey. We don't have room under the dome to fit the bird on the rack so we remove the cooking grate and put the pan on these feet so there isn't direct contact with the very hot platesetter.

Here it is with the drip pan inserted.

Now we've added the Big Green Egg Model VRP V-Rack

The 3 Big Green Egg Ceramic Feet are holding up the pan , creating an air space.

Here it is with the bird in the rack.

Here is the platesetter, legs-up, ceramic feet and Big Green Egg's 9" Round Drip Pan Model 9R

Here is the chicken set up using the Big Green Egg Vertical Chicken Roaster model VCR

Here it is with a genuine rubber chicken.

Here it is with Big Green Egg's 9 x 13 Drip Pan Model # 13NSP

Here we see the 9 x 13 pan, VRP V Rack, platesetter legs-up, 3 ceramic feet under the pan.

Here we see a setup using the Platesetter legs-up, Aluminum drip pan, OE cooking grate and the GX Grill Extender for cookng 2 chickens.

Here we see the platesetter legs-up, aluminum pan on 3 feet, and 2 chickens on 2 Big Green Egg VCR Vertical Chicken Roaster stands.

That's about it for now, if you have pictures of the platesetter in use that would make a good addition here, contact Fred himself .
