TOBY does TURKEY on the TRAEGER (Nov 2007.)
Thanksgiving day, 2007. Toby preps and cooks the family turkey on the Traeger Lil Tex (BBQ070) and it gets fantastic.
Here are the pics, Toby himself will be filling in the story!
Thanksgiving Eve prep : I had a 13 pound frozen turkey and had to thaw it for about 24 hour in the fridge before I preped the bird. I pulled out all of the giblets and disgarded them. I stuffed the turkey with peeled apples that were covered with Dizzy Pig Dizzy Dust coarse. I then refridgrated the turkey until the next day (Thanksgiving).
First thing on Thanksgiving morning I made up a mixture of butter, salt, rosemary and thyme. I rubbed this under the skin and all over the outside of the bird. I then coated the entire outside of the turkey with the Dizzy Dust.
Setup - 7AM Thanksgiving morning. I set the Treager on HIGH and let it warm up for about 20 minutes.

Treager Apple pellets
I set the turkey upside down on a V-rack with a drip pan underneath.
I used a Maverick thermometer the check the temp.
I rolled the bird over about an hour before it was done. As your can see, not very much juice dripping. I was planning on making gravy.
A little more Dizzy Dust
I poured a little chicken broth over the top of the turkey, so I could use the drippings for the gravy.
The finished product!
Nap time!
